Norlander Wilson's Story

"Trust me, I am more than just the sum of my parts." - Sojourner Truth

A Letter To My Future Self

Hey You, Here's a lesson I've learned and want to share with you:

“Taking care of myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” – Audre Lorde. To me, “political warfare” represents the fight against societal pressures or expectations that might stop you from putting your own physical, mental, and emotional health first.

Now that we’re locked in, I hope this letter finds you growing and surrounded by the small graces life sometimes offers. The true meaning of this message might not be clear to you right now, but it will make sense with time. It’s here to help ignite your true potential and guide you through your journey of transformation.

As an Operational and Developmental Professional, I assist individuals and organizations in streamlining their processes, fostering personal growth, and maintaining wellness. If you’re struggling to understand your niche or establish sustainable practices, I’m here to help.

I aid solo entrepreneurs and individuals by providing them with the necessary tools and strategies to promote personal growth, enhance their operations, and sustain wellness. My studies in data-driven leadership, operational management, and reflective practices guide my work.

My goal is to assist leaders and individuals in three key areas:

Our perception of ourselves influences our interactions and roles in the world. As an Operational Strategist with a background in experimental psychology, my work is rooted in examining human behavior to understand motivations and patterns. This knowledge allows me to devise strategies that improve operational efficiency, promote personal growth, and enhance wellness for both organizations and individuals.

Career Reflections

Right now, you’re facing life’s ups and downs, sometimes doubting your own strength. You’re working hard to be the dependable pillar that others lean on, the individual they turn to for guidance and reassurance. It’s a great feeling to be trusted, and I know it’s easy for you to say yes to being a savior and putting your self-care work last because being a savior gives you instant gratification but it can also be overwhelming and take your focus away from your own dreams and needs. Remember, it’s okay and important to put yourself first all the time. Taking care of your own well-being isn’t selfish; it’s necessary.

I’m here to tell you, the balance of work and life is truly important for peace of mind and happiness. Knowing when to take a break and when to give your all will not only make you more productive, but also make sure that your work brings you fulfillment, not tiredness. I am here to tell you rest breathes discernment so that you can learn to see when people are not emotionally available, even when it seems normal. This is key to improving your social & emotional health. Trust your gut, question what seems normal, and give yourself the freedom to really look beyond the surface of all relationships and interactions.

In this moment of your struggle with self-worth and the search for approval, I want to remind you that you are enough just the way you are, it’s ok to accept who you are and not feel guilty about who you’ve been. Your value comes from all the experiences that you’ve gained good and bad. I want you to let that let that sink in.

Obstacles are simply stepping stones paving the path of our learned lessons. These lessons shape us, mold us, strengthen us, and help us find our place in the world. So, with every setback, every challenging conversation, and every uncomfortable moment, remember that these experiences are crafting you into a stronger and wiser individual.

Keep in mind, the journey of self-discovery and personal growth, while riddled with doubts, resistance, and setbacks, is also a path of resilience, enlightenment, and significant growth. As you get rid of mental baggage and let go of old ways of seeing yourself, confidently move towards a life that truly reflects who you are and who you want to be. Above all, be kind and patient with yourself, urgency with your own self-care and growth is not optional. Growth is not a race; it’s a lifelong journey. Take time to acknowledge your progress, celebrate each small win, and understand that every step forward, no matter how small, is proof of your growth.

To my radiant self, I wish you all the strength and resilience you need for your transformative journey, and a life filled with balance and fulfillment.

With all my love and endless support, My Future Self
